For the last Red Light Radio residency show I invited Uzair Sawal from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to share the decks with me for 2 hours. Playing mostly Malay tracks which are spoken in Bahasa Melayu which is the root of Bahasa Indonesia. We had some interesting talks on our different perspectives on history, music culture and how it's seen from an Eastern vs. Western point of view. Uzair also runs a great low key venue called Fono, so if you are ever in KL make sure to go there!
Jiwa Jiwa on Red Light Radio was one of the biggest introductions to the world of the sonic wealth the Indonesian archipelago has to offer. Hosted by founder Sekan and sometimes featuring guests of Indonesian diaspora and descent. A monthly residency which ran from 2017 until the station closed in 2020.
