The logo Pt. 2
Now the process of making a screen print is quite labor intensive. This was my first time ever for me to witness the whole process of how a screen print comes together. So let me take you through the steps of how the end result of the logo came together.
1. You select how fine you want the mesh of the silk screen and how big you want the frame.
2. You cut down the print so It will fit the frame. The design is printed on see-through paper.
3. The design is printed on see through paper because when you expose the print to the emulsion all parts that are covered by the design will not harden by the light.
4. Here you can see the design being exposed to a heavy duty lamp for about 60 seconds.
5. Then you take the frame and use a high pressure water cleaner to remove the emulsion that has not been exposed by the design that was put on top of it
6. You can now see your design coming through on the screen and this is where the paint will come through the mesh
7. If there are any small spots or holes in the emulsion you need to fill these up so that paint doesn't come through on the paper.
8. The small black spots on the emulsion is the filler
9. You then continue to place the frame on the table in the frame-holder.
10. You then use the doctor blade to distribute the paint over the design with a lot of pressure.
11. Here the first print was just screen printed on a piece of heavy paper.
12. For the first prints we used black paint so that I would have enough contrast if I wanted to change the color to red in photoshop.
13. After that we did some extra ones in black.
14. Because it's silk and it's under high pressure the screens sometimes can rip. This is what happened unfortunately.
15. But we soon had made a new screen with 2 sizes of the logo-design on it
16. Now we applied the red paint because we we're gonna be printing some t-shirts and totebags.

18. Sometimes even the silkscreen can be a piece of art in it's own way.

20. The first time printing on a t-shirt for Tim turned out great.
21. You need to heat the prints so that the t-shirts remain machine washable since the paint is water based.
22. After that we still did some freestyle prints and mix colors
